The flowered Bastide
In the course of a guided stroll, the city, built in 1280, reveals its secrets.
Through seven centuries pilgrims, kings, shepherds and highwaymen have crossed paths here. But the town has kept its character: the town square and its arcades, the half-timbered houses, the three octagonal towers and the remnants of the ramparts, all bear witness to this rich past.

CASTLE OF FONDAT
Meet the legendary figures of the Landes d’Armagnac. This castle was built in 1607 by Jehan de Malartic, said to have inspired Theophile Gautier’s hero, Captain Fracasse. It was remodeled in the 19th century in a “neo-renaissance” style, making it charming and romantic. The park offers a unique collection of rare and several-centuries-old trees.

CASTLE OF RAVIGNAN
Near the « département » Gers stands the castle of Ravignan, in the Louis XII style. It is listed as a National Monument. Surrounded by a French style park, it is still inhabited and has therefore a special added charm. It contains paintings, furniture, and quality artifacts. Also an interesting collection of about 500 etchings about Henri IV, and 18th century menswear.
Guided tours: April to October: by appointment. In May, July, and October: call in the morning 05 58 03 24 96 or 06 24 58 42 59 for tours on Wednesday or Saturday at 5PM. July through September: week-end and holidays, tours at 3, 4, 5, 6PM. July 15 through August 31: tour daily at 5PM.
LA BASTIDE D’ARMAGNAC
Founded in 1291, La Bastide d’Armagnac was able to keep its originality and authenticity.
This tour will allow you to discover this incomparable heritage the Place Royale (town square) surrounded by arcades, its fortified church, its narrow streets, and andrones (narrow passages between the houses to keep fires from spreading from house to house)…

In this 12th century chapel, discover an unusual collection of champions’ jerseys and numerous trophies. As well as old bicycles used by Bourvil (in movies) or Longo (for racing).
